Digestive health is closely connected with nutrition, lifestyle, eating patterns, physical activity, and overall well-being. Ayurveda, a traditional Indian system of health knowledge, places substantial emphasis on digestion, food, meal routines, and individualized approaches to maintaining balance. This paper examines Ayurvedic perspectives on digestive health and their relevance to contemporary practices. It focuses on traditional concepts of digestion, dietary routines, meal timing, food quality, lifestyle factors, herbal traditions, stress and digestion, individualized approaches, and integration with modern nutritional and medical care. Ayurvedic dietary practices may encourage mindful eating, regular meals, attention to food quality, and greater awareness of digestive habits. Some traditional dietary practices overlap with broader contemporary principles of healthy eating, although the underlying explanations may differ. Evidence for specific Ayurvedic treatments and herbal products varies, and some products may present safety concerns or interact with medicines. The paper argues that Ayurveda offers a culturally significant perspective on digestive wellness, but persistent digestive symptoms and disease require appropriate medical evaluation and evidence-based care.
