Ayurveda is a traditional Indian system of health knowledge that continues to influence healthcare and wellness practices in India and internationally. At the same time, modern healthcare is increasingly interested in traditional and complementary medicine, creating opportunities for research, patient choice, cultural preservation, and potentially integrated approaches to health. This paper examines the relationship between Ayurveda and modern healthcare, focusing on traditional knowledge, preventive health, research opportunities, personalized care, herbal medicine, patient perspectives, education and regulation, integration, and contemporary challenges. Ayurveda offers a holistic perspective emphasizing lifestyle, diet, daily routines, and individualized approaches. These features can contribute to discussions of health promotion and wellness. However, integration with modern healthcare requires careful evaluation of evidence, safety, product quality, practitioner training, and interactions with conventional medicines. The paper argues that responsible integration should not assume that all traditional practices are effective or that traditional knowledge and modern biomedical science are interchangeable. Instead, Ayurveda can be studied and evaluated systematically while respecting its historical and cultural context and maintaining patient safety and evidence-informed healthcare.
