Abstract

Artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing education by supporting personalized learning, automated assessment, intelligent tutoring, educational analytics, accessibility, content development, and administrative activities. The rapid development of machine learning, natural language processing, generative AI, and adaptive learning systems has created new opportunities for students, teachers, educational institutions, and policymakers. This paper examines the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence in education, focusing on personalized learning, intelligent tutoring, assessment, teacher support, educational administration, accessibility, student engagement, academic integrity, privacy, bias, and the future of AI-enabled education. AI can analyze learning data and provide feedback that is adapted to individual needs, potentially supporting learners who progress at different speeds. It can also reduce some repetitive administrative tasks and help teachers develop learning materials. However, AI adoption creates concerns related to data privacy, algorithmic bias, inaccurate generated content, digital inequality, overdependence on technology, academic dishonesty, and changes in the role of teachers. The paper argues that AI should be implemented as a supportive educational technology rather than a replacement for teachers or human interaction. Effective integration requires teacher training, appropriate governance, transparent use of student data, inclusive access, critical digital literacy, and continuous evaluation. When used responsibly, AI can complement established pedagogical approaches and contribute to more flexible, accessible, and responsive educational environments.
