Abstract

Social media has changed the way young adults encounter, interpret, and share astrological content. Zodiac posts, short videos, memes, compatibility discussions, horoscope accounts, and personalized birth-chart content have made astrology highly visible in contemporary digital culture. This paper examines the growing popularity of astrology among young adults through social media, focusing on accessibility, algorithmic exposure, entertainment, identity formation, self-reflection, online communities, uncertainty, influencer culture, and critical perspectives. Research on university students and young social-media users suggests that astrology can circulate through digital networks as a form of social engagement and meaning-making. Recent studies have also examined how short-video platforms shape identity and relationship interpretations through astrology. At the same time, popularity should not be confused with scientific validation. Astrology remains an interpretive belief system, while personality and life outcomes are studied scientifically through empirical methods. The paper argues that social media has not merely reproduced traditional astrology but has transformed it into an interactive, personalized, and highly shareable form of digital culture. Understanding this transformation is important for studying contemporary youth identity, media consumption, and online communities.
