Stress has become a major concern in contemporary society and can influence emotional balance, sleep, concentration, physical health, and quality of life. Yoga is a mind-body practice that commonly combines physical postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, concentration, and meditation. This paper examines the role of yoga in stress reduction and the promotion of emotional wellness. It discusses the relationship between yoga and stress, breathing and relaxation, mindfulness, emotional regulation, sleep, self-awareness, quality of life, workplace and community applications, research evidence, and safety. Existing research suggests that yoga may help reduce perceived stress and may support aspects of emotional well-being in some populations, although outcomes vary according to the type of yoga, intervention duration, participant characteristics, and study quality. Yoga should therefore be considered a complementary wellness practice rather than a replacement for professional treatment of significant mental health conditions. Safe instruction, appropriate adaptation, informed choice, and access to evidence-based care remain essential.
