Applications of Nanotechnology in Modern Chemistry

Nanotechnology has introduced new opportunities in chemistry by enabling scientists to design and manipulate materials at dimensions where surface area, electronic structure, optical behavior, catalytic activity, and reactivity can differ substantially from those of bulk materials. Nanomaterials such as nanoparticles, nanocomposites, nanotubes, nanowires, and porous nanostructures are increasingly used in catalysis, sensing, environmental remediation, energy storage, medicine, and materials development. Their high surface-to-volume ratios and tunable properties make them valuable for both fundamental and applied chemical research. This paper examines nine major applications of nanotechnology in modern chemistry, including nanocatalysis, analytical sensing, environmental remediation, energy technologies, nanocomposites, drug-related chemistry, surface chemistry, green chemistry, and future research directions.
