Abstract

Yoga is a traditional mind-body practice that has become widely used in contemporary health and wellness settings. It commonly combines physical postures, breathing practices, relaxation, concentration, and meditation. This paper examines the role of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being, with attention to flexibility, strength, balance, respiratory awareness, stress management, emotional well-being, sleep, mindfulness, and quality of life. It also considers the relevance of yoga in preventive health and modern lifestyle management. While research suggests potential benefits for several physical and psychological outcomes, results vary according to the type, duration, intensity, and population involved. The paper emphasizes safe practice, appropriate instruction, individual suitability, and the importance of using yoga as a complementary wellness approach rather than a substitute for necessary medical or psychological care.Yoga is a traditional mind-body practice that has become widely used in contemporary health and wellness settings.
