Abstract

Stress is a common feature of modern life and can affect physical health, emotional balance, sleep, concentration, and quality of life when it becomes persistent. Yoga offers a holistic mind-body approach that combines physical postures, breathing practices, relaxation, concentration, and meditation. This paper examines yoga as an approach to stress management and wellness, focusing on physiological relaxation, physical activity, breathing, mindfulness, emotional regulation, sleep, lifestyle balance, and quality of life. It also considers the role of yoga in preventive health and the importance of safe, individualized practice. Available research suggests that yoga may help reduce perceived stress and support psychological well-being in some populations, although outcomes vary according to intervention type, duration, and participant characteristics. Yoga is best considered a complementary wellness practice rather than a replacement for professional treatment when significant mental or physical health problems are present.
