Abstract

Ayurveda is a longstanding traditional system of health knowledge originating in the Indian subcontinent and continuing to influence contemporary approaches to health and wellness. Traditional Ayurvedic medicine includes dietary practices, lifestyle regulation, herbal preparations, therapeutic procedures, and individualized approaches to maintaining health and managing illness. In modern healthcare, interest in traditional medicine has increased alongside broader attention to complementary and integrative approaches. This paper examines the relevance of traditional Ayurvedic medicine in modern healthcare, focusing on its historical foundations, holistic orientation, preventive practices, herbal medicine, individualized care, possible areas of integration, scientific evaluation, safety, regulation, and future prospects. The paper emphasizes that responsible integration requires reliable evidence, quality assurance, professional standards, and patient safety.
