Abstract

Polymer chemistry has developed from the study of naturally occurring macromolecules into a broad field supporting modern materials science and industrial manufacturing. Advances in polymerization methods, molecular design, polymer blends, nanocomposites, biodegradable materials, and functional polymers have expanded the range of properties that can be achieved in polymeric materials. Polymers are now essential in packaging, construction, automotive engineering, electronics, healthcare, textiles, agriculture, and energy technologies. At the same time, concerns about plastic waste, resource consumption, and environmental persistence have encouraged research into recyclable, biodegradable, bio-based, and circular polymer systems. This paper examines nine major dimensions of contemporary polymer chemistry, including polymerization, molecular architecture, advanced materials, nanocomposites, functional polymers, industrial applications, recycling, sustainable polymers, and future developments.
